Campbell Anderson is an artist from Auburn, Alabama. She earned her BFA with a concentration in painting at Auburn University. Anderson’s artwork is diverse from working with painting (oil, acrylic, and watercolor), charcoal/pencil drawing, to printmaking. Her work has been exhibited in several regional and local exhibitions and has won many competitive awards of excellence. Anderson also runs a freelance commission business where she has collaborated ideas with clients to create personalized works of art since 2010. She is mostly drawn towards the representation of everyday life, figures, and a vivid color palette.
Apart from color, illusions of texture and space are a focal point within my paintings. The color may evoke an initial response, while the space and textures within it can grasp a longer read. I am a tactile learner, so when objects are painted with interesting surfaces, or can fool the eye (Trompe-l'œil), I believe it makes for a more captivating artwork. The power lies in the artist who can transform a viewer’s previous assumptions on what is being represented. For example, a painted blanket can embody a vast collection of memories and experiences, not just warmth or comfort. To communicate my passion for artistic interpretation, I dedicate time to learning about the subject of each new work. It seems that nothing is permanent, so I attempt to challenge this thought and encourage a lasting connection between the artwork and its viewer.
